Katie Murray has had solo exhibitions of her photographic and video works at World Class Boxing in Miami, The Home Front Gallery, White Columns and Jen Bekman Gallery in New York City. She has also exhibited in group exhibitions at venues including the International Center of Photography, the Queens Museum of Art, the Museum of the City of New York, Yale Art Gallery, Pierogi Gallery, and Kate Werble Gallery. Murray's work has been reviewed in New Yorker, Village Voice, The New York Times, French Photo, and Miami Sun Times. Murray's photographs have been featured in the books The Spirit of Family (created by Al and Tipper Gore) and Brotherhood (an FDNY tribute published by American Express), as well as PDN magazine's "30 Under 30" special issue, and three special issues published by The New York Times Magazine, namely: "A Celebration of New York", "Women in Power", and the historic "September 11, 2001" issue. Honors and Awards include New York State Residents Grant for Excellence in Photography, the Robin Forbes Memorial Award in Photography, and the Barry Cohen Award for Excellence in Art. Murray was chosen as one of sixty-seven international female photographers to participate in a traveling exhibition entitled Beyond Compare: Women Photographers on Beauty, accompanied by a book of the same title, and Partners and Spade commissioned a set of six books of photographic work: The Benefits of Looking Down, Airport Love, Medical Professionals Smoking, 80, Trust Me, and Thanks A Lot Rudy. Murray co-curated the exhibition Housed at the Alice Austen House Museum. This exhibition, which was accompanied by a critical essay by Susan Bright, was positively reviewed by Art Forum and was the subject of a featured article in issue No. 8 of Dear Dave magazine. Murray is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts (B.F.A.) and Yale University (M.F.A.), she currently teaches at Hunter College and School of Visual Art.
